She played her first club in Dallas, TX at the age of 16. After graduating from high school she joined the Army and retired after a 27 year career. During her travels in the Army she attended and graduated from college. She also continued to entertain at NCO Clubs all over Europe and and across the US. Upon retiring from the Army she decided to persue her life long dream of having an all female 50’s and 60’s singing group. It took off like she never imagined and gets bigger every year. Tavie’s patriotism show through when she puts her heart and soul into the end of the show with “God Bless the USA”. It’s not unusual to see tears running down peoples cheeks. LeAnn Bemis

Singer, Booking of shows

From: Longview, TX

Family: LeAnn is married to Doug Bemis. She has 2 sons, 5 grandsons, and 2 granddaughters. Her husband Doug is a Master Plumber and when he is not working he is driving for the group, selling CD’s and T-shirts, or taking photos. At times you may even see him on stage in various costumes doing only who knows what??

Hobbies: Singing, hula hooping, sewing, working on Print Shop and Photo Shop on the computer.

Bio: The “old lady” of the group, LeAnn had never entertained in front of a crowd until Shake, Rattle & Roll!! The idea of getting on a stage was foreign to her. In school she would rather have taken an “F” than get in front of the class and speak. Everything changed when her sister Tavie was asked to get together some AT&T retirees for a talent show. Tavie couldn’t find anyone that would volunteer so she informed her sister that she would be doing the talent show with her. Her life as a bookkeeper had not prepared her to be an entertainer, but once she got on the stage we couldn’t get her off. The girls in the group have found her to be quite a “ham”. Her husband says when she puts on her poodle skirt, she transforms from shy, timid housewife, to an entertainer you would think had graced the stage her entire life. All eyes are on LeAnn as she hula hoops through “The Twist”, and the crowd loves it. Along with entertaining she also makes all the bookings for the show, advertising material and does the bookkeeping, and promotes concerts.

Her dad, who was a lay church music director and soloist, encouraged her from a young age to get up the nerve to sing in public. Her first public performance was when she was 11 or 12 years old. It was Mother’s Day and the opening day of the current church building at Main Street Baptist Church when she sang a medley of old hymns with one of her best friends. From that point on, she was hooked on singing. She has sung at many weddings and funerals, been in multiple groups from country music to a female oldies group, and currently sings in the Hideaway Lake Community Church choir and on the Praise Team.

Debi said her dad once said “you won’t do anything if it’s not fun”. She said she guessed daddy was right because her greatest passion is loving people…and encouraging them to have fun and enjoyment in their lives.
